How Quantum Computers Will (and Won’t) Change Everything

Keynote
Bookmark

It is not yet clear when we will have access to cryptographically relevant quantum computers. However, we can already start testing quantum algorithms on real quantum hardware. In this talk, we first introduce the field of quantum computing and discuss where these new devices are expected to excel and deliver computational speedups. We then examine their impact on public-key cryptography, using this as an introduction to quantum-safe cryptography. We cover the ongoing migration to post-quantum cryptography, as well as our research activities in quantum key distribution. This talk serves as an introduction to the follow-up talks with our industry partners, ID Quantique and essendi it.
