On the importance of fighting synthetic content

As AI-generated synthetic visual content becomes more sophisticated and ubiquitous, the distinction between authentic and generated data becomes critical. This requires more advanced forensic tools. This talk will explore the state of the art and emerging technologies for detecting deepfakes and AI-generated content. Topics covered include challenges with AI-generated visual content, technical approaches and tools for detection, and standards and certification efforts.

Prof. Dr. Touradj Ebrahimi

Director Multimedia Signal Processing Group EPFL, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne EPFL

Prof. Dr. Ebrahimi teaches and researches in the field of multimedia signal processing and has been chairman of the JPEG nomination committee since 2014, which has developed a number of standards that have revolutionised the world of image processing. He represents Switzerland as head of delegation at JTC1, which is responsible for the information technology ISO and IEC. Ebrahimi is the founder of several startup and spinoff companies, including the most recent RayShaper SA, a research startup company focussing on AI-powered multimedia.
